Touchdown in Africa

Funny how the more things change the more they stay the same. We landed in Nairobi this morning and have a few hours here before catching a flight to Lamu, on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya, where we're hoping to catch some much-needed rest before starting on the really adventurous parts of our honeymoon.

First Africa impressions: the woman in front of me on the plane who started banging away on her BlackBerry the moment we landed, and the rain. Seems we left Vancouver just as the rain was ending, and walked into more of it here. Just can't escape it.

Flights were all on time and fine. A word of advice: take the chicken on Air Canada and the beef on Air Kenya. Apart from that, all is well. We're here, we're having fun (despite the back-to-back red eyes) and we had a nice afternoon in London walking through Hyde Park during a nine-hour layover there.
